How to Style a Suede Skirt

No matter how cold it gets this season, I will not stop wearing skirts in winter. Skirts play such a big part in my style, and this suede skirt from Asos has become part of my signature winter style. You may have already seen this skirt on my Instagram feed, and it has certainly served me well as a staple investment piece for my wardrobe. Suede skirts have risen in popularity in the recent months and they are extremely practical for those chilly days.

An eye-catching suede patchwork pattern, in a variety of rich, earthy tones, makes this skirt perfect for Autumn/Winter. The A-line design creates a flattering structured fit that can be easily dressed up with a smart blouse, or dressed down with a baggy jumper.

As with many things, it’s the small details that make this biggest difference. With this skirt, the buttons running from the top to the bottom add a lovely structural touch and really give the skirt a high-end, premium feel.

As suede is quite a thick, heavy material, this type of skirt is much better suited to keep you warm in winter. This Asos own brand skirt has a gorgeous silky lining, which to me is an excellent sign of good quality as it protects the suede from wear and tear.

How to Style

The skirt adds a brilliant pop of colour, and I always compliment this with neutral tones such as cream, grey and black. As I mentioned earlier, it is so easy to style this type of skirt in either a smart or a casual way. To compliment the A-line silhouette of the skirt, I will pair it with a tighter fitting blouse to create a shape that emphasises the waistline. By far my favourite thing to wear with the skirt is a big woolly jumper or cardigan. Layering up baggy knits with the structured skirt combines two contrasts perfectly, and my go-to jumpers are my Aran Jumper or my Norwegian Cardigan.
